From a regional provider to a European market leader
1990 – The beginning
The beginnings of Sachsen Fahnen trace back to the year 1990, when the company was founded as Textilbandfabrik Kamenz GmbH. With 14 employees, the newly established company started manufacturing textile ribbons. However, soon the management realized that this product offering was not sufficient to be successful in the long term.
The realignment of the product range according to current demand was necessary – for the young company, the entry into textile printing technology and the production of textile advertising media. In addition to flags, flagpoles, umbrellas, and pennants, T-shirts, bags, hats, hand-embroidered flags, and handmade carnival costumes were soon produced. The company began training apprentices in 1993, initially in the commercial sector and later in production-oriented profiles.
1993 – Rebranding
On June 3, 1993, Textilbandfabrik Kamenz GmbH was rebranded as Sachsen Fahnen GmbH, expressing the consideration of the new product range in the company name.
1995/96 – Investment in the new production site
The building project, which was associated with a total investment of 12 million Deutschmarks, was successfully implemented in the industrial estate in Kamenz/Bernbruch in 1995. A modern printing house with 6,000 m² of production and storage space was built.
With the company’s move to the newly constructed plant at the turn of the year 1995/96, the demanding production of flags using dispersion screen printing with subsequent post-treatment began.
1998 – Start with new printing technology
In 1998, Sachsen Fahnen entered the digital printing industry, allowing cost-effective and fast printing of small textile orders directly onto fabric without the need for screen printing.
By the summer of 1998, the company had once again reached its capacity limit, leading to a decision to expand with a 22 million DM investment. The production and storage area was expanded to 16,000 m².
2000 bis 2009 – Renewed expansion
From 2000 to 2009, the company successfully continued its expansion course. The revenue doubled and 100 new employees were hired. At the same time, the company made a foray into digital large-scale production.
In 2008, Sachsen Fahnen invested again to expand the storage, production, and administrative areas of the printing plant to 30,000 m² and purchase modern finishing and digital printing technology.
2011 – Launch of the new Online Shop
After almost two years of project development, Vispronet® – the Online Shop of Sachsen Fahnen went online in November 2011. Customers can choose from a large range of products with free size input and order “overnight” if desired.

Sachsen Fahnen: Well-positioned for the future
Sachsen Fahnen has prepared well for the future. The sons of the entrepreneurial family have taken their positions. Dirk Ruhland is in charge of procurement, quality assurance, and the introduction of new import products and in-house developments.
After living in the United States for several years, Marcel Ruhland returned to his homeland with his family and took over as CEO of Sachsen Fahnen in 2022. His wife, Susanne, is employed as the company’s commercial director.
Today, Sachsen Fahnen is a European market leader with over 160 employees, including 15 apprentices. The company relies on state-of-the-art technology and innovative products and is a dependable partner for its customers for high-quality advertising materials.
